He therefore took the initiative to start reusing throughout the company.
With the help of PreZero's digital service GoZero, employees can now easily share ads about things that can be reused - instead of being thrown away.
– Out of habit, we often ordered a mixed waste container and threw away all sorts of things. Furniture, restaurant equipment and other things that could actually be reused straight away. I felt that we had to start taking responsibility, says Jimmy.
He started with a simple internal website. Shortly thereafter, he came into contact with PreZero and the reuse service GoZero, which uses AI to create smart ads and makes it easy to share things both within and between businesses. At Gröna Lund, there are 15 to 20 departments with their own inventories. The Parks and Resorts group also includes Kolmården, Skara Sommarland and Furuviksparken. There is therefore a lot that can be reused internally.
An important collaboration
Parks and Resorts is helping to develop GoZero together with PreZero. Emilia Mastad, who is a GoZero specialist, appreciates the collaboration.
– It's extremely valuable for us to see how a large and seasonally driven company like Parks and Resorts works with reuse. They come up with ideas that help us develop the app so that it works even better for users, says Emilia.
– Everyone will have access to the app. If Gröna Lund, for example, posts a fridge or some chairs, Kolmården can go in and book what they need. It's simple, saves money and is good for the environment. We also get environmental reports directly from the app, which show how much emissions we save, says Jimmy.
They also reuse work clothes
Now clothes can also be better matched between departments with the help of GoZero. And Jimmy's commitment has been noticed. In 2024, he received Gröna Lund's sustainability award of the Year's Sustainability Hero. The award goes to employees who have made a particularly big difference for the environment. Jimmy received it for his work in reducing waste and conserving resources.
– We are ready to go full steam ahead as soon as we have reached out with information to everyone. It's super important to engage people. They need to understand why we're doing this and see the benefits in everyday life. It's not enough for one person to be engaged - you have to get others on board, says Jimmy.
Jimmy's best tips for other companies that want to reuse:
– Start with a strategy. Think about what you can reuse - for example, furniture, technology or clothes.
– Inventory what you have. Make a list of your assets. With a digital tool like GoZero, it's easy to share between departments.
– Think internally first. Offer things within the business before you think about throwing them away.
– Highlight good examples and show how you save money and the environment.
– Engage employees. Calculate what you save, celebrate successes and explain why reuse is important.
